When we choose a torch, headlamp or any electronic machine, we are concerned about whether they are waterproof enough, especially for the flashlight used outdoors. But how can we know that? I think the The IPX rating can tell you the answer. Let's see the IPX ratings first:
IPX 0, No protection
IPX 1 Protected against harmful effects of vertical drops
IPX 2 Protected against water drops falling within 15 degrees from the vertical direction
IPX 3 Protected against the harmful effects of spray droplets at 6 vertical at 60 degrees
IPX 4 Protected against harmful effects of splashing droplets from different directions
IPX 5 Protected against harmful effects on nozzle jet flow in all directions
IPX 6 Protected against harmful effects on strong nozzle flow in all directions
IPX 7 Protected when immersed in 1m water for up to 30 minutes
IPX 8 Protected against continuous submersion over 1m for up to 30 minutes
To ensure the life of our torches, Olight flashlights have high waterproof performance, the IPX4 as minimum, and most of them are on the IPX8 level.
All our Olight torches and headlamp have an IPX4 rating as a minimum, which means that they are Splash Waterproof. In reality, the IPX4 rating means that you can use the headlamp or flashlight in heavy rain, but you cannot submerge it into water.
In fact, most of our flashlight have a higher IP rating, such as the Warrior Mini 2,Perun 2 and Javelot Turbo that have an IPX8 rating. These flashlights can be submerged in water down to 1M.
