Same as women's bags, flashlights require regular maintenance, regardless of their cost. They will last longer if they are maintained properly and scientifically.
Once you get the right flashlight, you'll want to make sure that it is long-lasting. The question is, how should a flashlight or head torch be maintained? What are the things you need to keep in mind? It is not difficult to maintain, but it is very critical. It is possible for a flashlight or head torch to last 10 to 20 years if you take good care of it.
Guidelines for maintaining flashlights
1. Don't overvoltage
Make sure that the voltage of the flashlight does not exceed its specified voltage.
2. Remove the battery if you won't be using it for a long time
Whenever you are not planning to use the flashlight for a long time, please remove the batteries (especially alkaline batteries) to avoid chemical corrosion;
3. Maintaining your battery regularly is very important
It is important to check and charge your flashlight every 3 months when not in use. Some flashlights have very weak standby currents, and the battery also has a relatively small self-discharge. If the flashlight is not used, the battery's performance will be affected.
4. Avoid wiping the lens with alcohol
If you need to clean the lens or PMMA lens of the lamp head, you should use a lens cleaning cloth or soft cotton cloth. Further, alcohols such as methanol, ethanol, and IPA are slightly soluble in PMMA, so do not wipe the lens surface with alcohol.
5. Check all
Make sure all parts of the flashlight are tightened or assembled properly before using it. A flashlight that doesn't work properly could be due to loose parts.
6. Keeping flashlights dry is important
A non-diving flashlight should not be submerged in water. Waterproof level and underwater pressure requirements for diving flashlights are very high, and flashlights must be maintained and inspected strictly. Keeping the metal tail switch clean and dry will ensure it works. If the switch comes into contact with seawater or other conductive media, it may not work.
7. Keep the clip on
It is not recommended to remove the clip unless absolutely necessary, as it could damage the oxide layer.
8. Be careful not to accidentally touch the lock key
To prevent accidental touching, please lock it if it is stored in a flashlight case, pocket, backpack, etc. When not in use for a long time, please also perform key lock operation.
Lock: In the off state, press and hold the side button (about 2 seconds) until the moonlight mode goes out, and the flashlight turns to the locked state.
Unlock: In the locked state, press and hold the side button for more than 1 second to unlock the flashlight and turns to moonlight mode.
